FBI Affidavit For Mar-A-Lago Search.

About 85 percent of the 38 page affidavit is redacted. I read it over. Here is a summary and my thoughts as some random guy on the Internet.

FBI Affidavit was prepared by an counterintelligence agent. Highly classified intelligence was intermixed with newspapers, news articles, and magazines, leading the gov’t to fear that the material was not being properly treated.

Moving trucks were seen at Mar-a-Lago Jan 2021. That section is highly redacted, leading me to infer that a confidential source was explaining that the confidential docs were in those trucks. “A preliminary triage of the documents with classification markings revealed the following approximate numbers: 184 unique documents bearing classification markings, including 67 documents marked as CONFIDENTIAL, 92 documents marked as SECRET, and 25 documents marked as TOP SECRET. Further, the FBI agents observed markings reflecting the following compartment/dissemination controls: HCS, FISA, ORCON, NOFORN, and SI.”

(HCS refers to HUMINT Control System. In other words, docs with the names of spies were involved. NOFORN means “No Foreign Nationals” meaning Saudis at MAL shouldn’t have seen those docs. ORCON refers to Originator Control. SI means special intelligence, which refers to communications intercepts, which are among the most highly guarded secrets (think NSA hacking foreign gov’t). These are the most secret documents that exist in this country: the names of our spies, and the technical surveillance assets we have.)

The section of the affidavit setting forth the basis of probable cause that classified docs were still at MAL are redacted. Again, confidential sources.

Keep in mind that some secrets cannot be declassified by the President, including nuclear secrets and the identity of spies. HCS means that the identity of spies were involved, and there are reports of nuclear secrets. The US enforces a policy of “born secrets” with relation to nuclear weapons tech. Even if a person discovers nuclear weapons secrets based on his own research at a lab without any contribution from the gov’t, they are still secrets protected from unauthorized dissemination. These secrets involved “data concerning (1) design, manufacture, or utilization of atomic weapons; (2) the production of special nuclear material; or (3) the use of special nuclear material in the production of energy, but shall not include data declassified or removed from the Restricted Data category pursuant to section 2162 of this title.”

Hilariously, Trump’s lawyer claims that all the docs in his possession were declassified. That argument, even if true, reflects extraordinarily bad judgment. Trump is claiming that he declassified nuclear bomb secrets and the identity of spies. Think that over. There is no earthly reason for such declassification except for Trump wanting to sell it. Trump’s lawyer then continues to say that you can’t “lock him up” as he’s President, and he can do whatever he wants.

Again, think about the extraordinary bad judgment that it would take to declassify nuclear bomb secrets, the identity of our spies, and the methods of our technical surveillance of our enemies. And that’s his defense.
